How It All Started

Marker Insurance was born out of a life-changing moment. Our founder was seven months pregnant when she was involved in a car accident—one that was not her fault. At the time, she held a standard auto policy with limited tort and no uninsured motorist coverage. What seemed like a routine insurance setup quickly revealed its shortcomings.

Because of the accident, her baby was born prematurely. She was already considered high-risk, and the medical care required was extensive. But what followed was even more shocking: a gap of nearly $40,000 between what the hospital needed to do and what the auto insurance policy would cover.

Due to the limited tort selection, she had waived her right to pursue compensation through a lawsuit. And without uninsured motorist coverage, there was no additional protection to bridge the gap.

That moment changed everything.

It raised a powerful question:

Why do people go to insurance agents?
